What? A really really special space, where the river meets the sea in the most calming way. The river goes through a mangrove forest and passes by a Digo village.
When? Sunset, the colours are breathtaking. Although, you can easily spend a few days in this area exploring.
Why? Sail through the waters, meet the villagers and watch the sun set over the mangrove creeks. You can choose to also go for a swim in the river or clear seas – or both if the tide is right! Learn about the unique ecosystem and birdlife from the locals themselves.
How? Swimming costumes would be helpful if you want a dip, apart from that sit back and enjoy the ultimate ride.
Aboard the canoe and meet your captain for the trip. Start rowing through the clear waters as you spot birds and fishes. Gain an insight into local life as the village kids jump into the water and enjoy their playtime. Discover the mangroves and learn about their vital existence.
Pause as you experience the sun setting and watch the birds come alive. Feel free to ask the captain any questions regarding the area, life in the village etc etc.
Swimming clothes if you wish to swim and we would suggest a waterproof bag for valuables.
5pm is a good time to board the canoe in order to catch sunset.
The most tranquil and relaxing trip, the sunset was gorgeous and the guide very informative. Would recommend!
Lots of birds and nature, a piece of heaven. Well organised tour that let us see a different part of Diani. Just we had to walk quite a bit to get to the canoe, but that’s because it was low tide, not T4P’s fault!
