Kenya is a country that has great diversity, making it one of the most popular travel destinations in Africa. Tourists get to experience the wildlife rich savannahs, beautiful white sandy beaches, a diverse collection of cultural experiences, well preserved forest lands and endless travel experiences unique to the country. Here are top four unique experiences you would definitely enjoy on your next vacation in Kenya.
1. Nature Walk with Giraffes (picnic in the wild)
Enjoy this wonderful, off the beaten path experience in nature. This animal haven offers a scenic and peaceful experience as you freely enjoy being inches away from nature’s most graceful animals. Travel4Purpose creates customized experiences at the sanctuary offering a chance to enjoy a picnic and a little exercise as you get your steps in. The space offers proximity to other animals such as the Oryx, Ostrich and the Elands. In addition to enjoying time with the giraffes and creating unforgettable memories, this activity creates a positive impact through the different community projects funded by the fees paid.

2. Local Village Experience
This is a unique opportunity to experience the true authentic culture of different Kenyan communities such as the Giriama Tribe. A chance to be involved in the lives of the local community while learning and experiencing culture in its rawest form. You can experience a day in the village or choose to spend several nights in a beautiful hand made tree house. The Local Village Experience gives you a chance to learn and enjoy the following activities:
- A Cooking Class
- Makuti Roof Making Workshop
- Climbing a Coconut Tree Competition
- Canoe Ride, Island Visit, Swim in the Creek
- Local Fishing
- Boardwalk through Mangroves
- Sundowner Bird Spotting
3. Overnight on a Dhow
That’s right, a night under the stars aboard a large authentic wooden dhow that is floating on water with food made fresh on board. This area is also well known for bioluminescence and would offer a magical night swimming experience when the moon is on the right phase. A unique night for you and your loved ones on this dhow that can fit up to 20 people with the option of an intimate setting just for you.
The dhow was originally built to spread love and peace as it sailed around the world and held workshops. Due to Covid, the dhow stationed itself in Kenya and we’ve had the pleasure of enjoying the magic.

4. Mombasa City Tour
Mombasa is one of the most historical cities in Kenya. The Old Town is lined with buildings set in the old Arab and Swahili architecture complete with doors and buildings that are over 100 years old. This tour involves a Tuk Tuk ride to avoid exhaustion under the Mombasa heat, a walk through the major historical sites and a chance to enjoy a cup of coastal coffee by the ocean at the end of the tour. Often overlooked, a Mombasa Old Town tour gives a scenic learning experience with equal parts culture and heritage of the coastal people.
Fun fact, the famous Mombasa Tusks were first put up to welcome a young Queen Elizabeth II during her tour of Mombasa.
